How many times have you had the question (or argument) about what is safe to flush down your drains and what is not?

We’ve compiled a list of common items that have caused problems in homes that we have serviced:

  1. Floss, Q-tips, and cotton balls
  2. Feminine Hygiene Products
  3. Paper Towels
  4. Condoms
  5. Wet Wipes
  6. Diapers

Most of these items have a knack for absorbing water, which leads to expansion. When the items become larger in your pipes, it allows less room for your waste water to flow through to the sewer. If the waste cannot freely go to the sewer, it only has one other place to go…. Back into your house! Everyone is trying to avoid a Joe Dirt scenario…

Another reason why these items may clog your plumbing lines is the sludge in your pipes. Build up within your pipes will more than likely catch lager items that do not dissolve, resulting in an alternative method for your waste water to come back into your home.

So, please don’t end up like Joe. Be mindful about what you’re flushing down your drains to avoid poo problems.
