There are a couple of ways for you to accomplish this, but the most basic is to clean two key parts to your HVAC system. Check it out:

1. The Blower Wheel

This is the part of the unit that gives the air constant movement throughout the system. All of the air that is flowing through the ductwork and into your home is passing through this part right here. So, if the blower wheel in your system looks something like the pictures below, then you may want to consider a blower wheel pull and clean.

When a blower wheel has this much dirt caked on it, your family’s health is not the only thing at risk in your home. The heavy weight of the dirt forces your blower to work harder than necessary to heat and cool your home. This can lead to early equipment failure, leaving you without heat or AC (depending on the season!). Watch this video to see what a blower wheel pull and clean looks like:

2. The Evaporator Coil

All of the air that is pushed along by the blower wheel passes through this part. If this part is dirty in your equipment, then you’ll be breathing dirty air in your home. Here’s what a dirty evaporator coil looks like:

Lucky for you, we have awesome technicians that know how to clean BOTH of these parts on your HVAC unit. The next time that you have your yearly tune-up, be sure to ask your technician to take pictures of the blower wheel and evaporator coil to see if you need to clean it!

Help prevent these problems before they even start! Be sure to change out your filter regularly. Here’s how to do it:
